The Ministry of Health ton Friday received medical supplies worth Sh.1 million from the Kenya- China Economic Association to help in the prevention of the coronavirus disease.

While receiving the donation at Afya House the Acting Director General of Health Dr. Patrick Amoth said  the donation will go a long way in the fight against the threat of the epidemic and will enhance ties between Kenya and China.

A representative of the Chinese embassy, Chen Yungchau said that his country will put in place proper mechanisms to share information on the effort to defeat the epidemic. He was optimistic that together the two countries will win the war against the epidemic saying that some provinces in China are already reporting zero cases.

Speaking on behalf of the association Li Changgui said the donation was from all Chinese companies trading in Kenya and their gesture was part of their corporate social responsibility aimed at defeating the threat of coronavirus in the country.

While receiving the supplies which included protective gowns, gumboots, aprons among others Dr. Amoth underscored the support the Kenya government has so far received from the government of China since the outbreak of the disease saying it was tremendous.

Simon Muiruri who represented the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the brief event said that the two countries will continue cooperating despite the challenges that may arise.
